Grade 11 students are preparing for the finals of their Functions course to make sure that their GPA is as high as possible. Grades 12 are preparing for their finals in Advanced Functions (Most Mississauga and Oakville students will have Advanced Functions in their Fall Semester) or Calculus and Vectors (This is usually offered in the Winter Semester). Here are a few tips for Grade 11 and 12 students in Mississauga and Oakville as they prepare for their finals:

1. Grade 11 Functions (MCR3U)

Make sure you have your fundamentals rock solid on the following topics.

A. Quadratic Functions – This will again be needed in Grade 12 Advanced Functions. Make sure you understand the concept of Completing the Square, Nature of roots using Discriminant and Quadratic Optimization Word Problems)

B. Trigonometry – Pay particular attention to the cyclical nature of trigonometric functions and the CAST rule. You will need this again in Grade 12 Advanced Functions in the unit of radian measure. Also pay attention to Single angle identities. You will need them as a reference for mastering double angle identities in Grade 12

C. Equivalent Algebraic Expressions – This will serve as a foundation for not only Advanced Functions, but also calculus and Vectors in Grade 12. Pay close attention to addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of Algebraic polynomials.

For students who want additional help with these foundations, math tutoring in Mississauga can be very beneficial.
